OGA 2026 OPENS WITH STRONGER FOCUS ON MARKET ACCESS, REGIONAL PROJECTS AND ENERGY OPPORTUNITIES
Oil & Gas Asia (OGA) 2026 opened in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with a focus on market access and cross-border business connections for the energy industry. The 22nd edition of OGA, co-located with MOGSEC and EIC Connect OGA, gathers Malaysian and international energy companies. The event aims to strengthen links between Malaysian OGSE capabilities, international project pipelines, and growing regional energy opportunities. OGA 2026 expects to attract over 30,000 trade attendees and 2,000 participating brands, with 35% of exhibitors being new this year. PETRONAS serves as Corporate Sponsor, and Malaysia Petroleum Resources Corporation (MPRC) is the National OGSE Development Partner.
The OGA 2026 event in Malaysia underscores a strategic push for Malaysian oil and gas services and equipment (OGSE) companies to expand their regional and international reach. The participation of 35% new exhibitors and eight international pavilions, including a new one from Western Australia, points to a growing interest in cross-border partnerships. This reflects a broader industry response to shifting demand and supply-chain pressures, particularly as the sector navigates technological change and the transition towards more resilient energy systems. While the event generated US$42.17 million in reported potential business for exhibitors at OGA 2025, the focus for 2026 is on identifying new markets and building capabilities for Malaysian firms. The collaboration with Timor-Leste, an emerging energy market, is a concrete example of this outward-looking strategy. The challenge for Malaysian OGSE companies will be to translate these connections into sustained growth and technology adoption, moving beyond just deal-making at the event.
