AI‑fuelled boom lifts global billionaire count, Hong Kong retains top spot in Asia
Hong Kong maintained its position as the leading Asian city for billionaires last year, despite a slight decrease in its billionaire population to 106. Globally, Hong Kong ranks second behind New York, which saw its billionaire count rise to 164. Mainland Chinese cities, particularly Beijing and Shenzhen, are rapidly closing the gap, driven by wealth accumulation from the artificial intelligence boom. Beijing now hosts 61 billionaires, while Shenzhen ties with Dubai at 43, placing both among the top 15 global cities.
