TRM Labs Taps MAS Veteran Ziqing Ang to Lead APAC Policy
TRM Labs has appointed Ziqing Ang, a former official from the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), as its Head of Policy for APAC. In this role, Ang will engage with regulators, policymakers, law enforcement, and private institutions on digital asset crime and emerging threats across the Asia-Pacific region. Her background includes over eight years at MAS in financial markets development and reserve management, followed by roles at digital asset bank Sygnum and Bright Point International Digital Assets. This appointment follows TRM Labs' recent hiring of another former MAS regulator, Claudia Hui, as Head of Compliance Advisory for APAC. These hires are part of TRM Labs' broader expansion of its policy, compliance, and commercial presence in Asia.
TRM Labs' appointment of Ziqing Ang as Head of Policy for APAC, following Claudia Hui's hire last month, points to Singapore's growing influence in digital asset regulation. Both Ang and Hui bring direct experience from the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), a key regulator in the region. This suggests TRM Labs is prioritizing deep regulatory expertise from a market known for its clear stance on digital assets. Ang's focus on digital asset crime and emerging threats reflects a critical area for regional stability. Her background, spanning MAS, Sygnum, and Bright Point International Digital Assets, gives her a rare perspective from both the regulatory and institutional sides of the digital asset industry. The thing to watch is how TRM Labs leverages this MAS-centric policy team to shape regulatory dialogues across diverse APAC markets, where approaches to digital assets vary significantly.
