Oracle Weighs More Job Cuts as AI Spending Climbs
Oracle is reportedly considering further job reductions this month as it navigates a period of rapid cloud growth alongside significant infrastructure investments. Business Insider indicates that some business units could experience substantial cuts, with the process slated for completion before September 1. Managers have reportedly been tasked with identifying affected employees, though Oracle has declined to comment on the matter. These potential cuts follow a year in which Oracle’s workforce decreased by approximately 21,000 employees, or 13%, as the company expanded its cloud and AI capacity. The company is also ramping up spending on cloud and AI infrastructure, expecting to raise about US$40 billion through debt and equity in fiscal 2027.
