OCBC is deploying agentic AI to significantly reduce the time it takes to onboard wealth management clients. The bank’s HELIOS platform automates the collection, verification, and assessment of customer information, allowing much of the Know Your Customer (KYC) due diligence to be completed before a relationship manager engages a prospective client. This initiative aims to cut private banking account opening times to 15 business days, a marked improvement over the industry median of approximately six weeks. The system also flags missing information and minimizes repeated exchanges between clients, relationship managers, and compliance teams, enhancing efficiency and client experience. OCBC’s private banking arm, Bank of Singapore, has already begun using HELIOS in Singapore, Hong Kong, and Dubai, with a full rollout expected by Q3 2026.

    Nexa 摘要

OCBC’s adoption of agentic AI for client onboarding marks a significant step in the digital transformation of Asia’s financial services sector. This move not only addresses the perennial challenge of lengthy KYC processes but also aligns with broader regulatory pushes, such as the Monetary Authority of Singapore’s goal to reduce account opening times. By leveraging AI to streamline initial due diligence, OCBC is setting a new benchmark for efficiency and customer experience in private banking, potentially pressuring competitors to accelerate their own digital initiatives. The bank’s substantial investment in technology, exceeding S$1 billion annually over the next three years, underscores a strategic commitment to AI-driven innovation that extends beyond onboarding to ongoing customer monitoring and risk assessment.

This development highlights a growing trend where AI is not merely a tool for automation but a strategic enabler for more robust compliance and risk management. Loretta Yuen’s emphasis on identifying potential concerns earlier and assessing financial crime risks more holistically demonstrates a sophisticated application of AI that combines technological capability with human expertise. The expansion of HELIOS to identify high-quality leads also suggests AI’s evolving role in revenue generation and business development within financial institutions. As AI capabilities advance, its integration into core banking operations will likely become a critical differentiator for financial institutions aiming to maintain competitiveness and regulatory compliance in the dynamic Asian market.
