Etiqa Insurance Singapore Appoints Claudia Soh as CEO
Etiqa Insurance Singapore has officially appointed Claudia Soh as its Chief Executive Officer. Soh previously served as Acting CEO and joined Etiqa as Chief Financial Officer in April 2022. Her extensive background includes roles as Chief Risk Officer at AXA Singapore and various senior positions at Great Eastern, such as Chief Internal Auditor and Head of Group Strategies. Earlier in her career, she gained experience in banking supervision at the Monetary Authority of Singapore and worked as an auditor at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Etiqa stated that Soh’s leadership will focus on enhancing customer outcomes, strengthening partnerships, and ensuring the long-term resilience of its Singapore operations.
The appointment of Claudia Soh as CEO of Etiqa Insurance Singapore is a significant development within the city-state’s financial services sector, particularly as it intersects with the evolving tech landscape. Soh’s extensive experience across risk management, finance, and strategy at major regional players like AXA and Great Eastern, coupled with her regulatory background at the Monetary Authority of Singapore, positions her to navigate both traditional insurance challenges and the rapid digital transformation impacting the industry. Her focus on customer outcomes and partnerships signals a strategic emphasis on leveraging technology to enhance service delivery and foster collaborative innovation, which is crucial for insurers competing with agile insurtech startups.
This leadership change reflects a broader trend in Asia’s financial markets where established institutions are increasingly appointing leaders with deep operational and regulatory expertise to drive digital agendas. As Singapore continues to solidify its position as a regional fintech hub, leaders like Soh will be instrumental in bridging the gap between legacy systems and emerging technologies, ensuring that traditional players remain competitive and resilient in an increasingly digital-first environment. Her mandate to enhance long-term resilience also hints at strategic investments in technology and data analytics to improve operational efficiency and risk assessment, aligning with the wider industry’s push towards data-driven decision-making.
