Air Asia MOVE gets IATA accreditation

AirAsia MOVE’s IATA accreditation in the Philippines allows it to directly issue tickets for 30 international airlines serving the country. This move expands its flight offerings beyond the 700 airlines and 3,000 destinations it already covers globally, including direct partnerships with carriers like Etihad Airways and ANA. The accreditation is a clear step towards deepening its presence in the Philippine travel market, where it also works with the Department of Tourism on domestic campaigns. While the IATA accreditation provides a significant operational boost and broadens its reach, MOVE faces a challenging regulatory and competitive environment in the Philippines. The company was fined P6 million last year for alleged overpricing and was barred by a Malaysian court from selling Cebu Pacific flights without authorization. The ability to integrate more deeply with airlines is positive, but the platform must also navigate these existing issues to fully capitalize on its expanded ticketing authority.
