Excelland Robotics targets growth in commercial service robots with Hong Kong IPO
Excelland Robotics, a Chinese commercial service robot developer, launched its global offering on August 31 for a Main Board listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. The company aims to raise approximately HKD 685.7 million (USD 87.4 million) in net proceeds, with trading expected to commence on September 9. Excelland is offering 45 million H shares globally, priced between HKD 14.45 and 19.55 per share. Cornerstone investors include SensePower Management, a SenseTime subsidiary, and CYGG Holding, a 58.com subsidiary, reflecting significant industry backing for the IPO.
Excelland Robotics' Hong Kong IPO shows continued investor interest in China's commercial service robot sector, despite the company's persistent losses. The firm, founded in 2013, has deployed over 114,600 units globally across diverse applications, including delivery and cleaning robots. Its revenue grew from RMB 244 million in 2023 to RMB 318 million in 2025, with a narrowing net loss. The IPO proceeds will largely fund R&D and business expansion, indicating a focus on technological advancement and market penetration. The involvement of cornerstone investors like SenseTime and 58.com suggests confidence in Excelland's technology and market position. However, the company's gross margin, at 13.9% in 2025, remains relatively low, and it has yet to achieve profitability. The market penetration for commercial service robots in China was only about 2.9% in 2025, according to Frost & Sullivan, pointing to a large addressable market but also the need for significant investment to capture it. Excelland's ability to scale profitably will be key to its long-term success.
