DBS and ttb Team Up to Expand Wealth Services in Thailand
DBS Bank and TMBThanachart Bank (ttb) have formed a partnership to expand wealth management services for retail investors in Thailand. The initial phase involves inviting eligible clients of DBS Vickers Securities Thailand (DBSVT) to transfer their Thai baht-denominated assets to ttb wealth securities. This transfer, which requires client consent and regulatory approval, is projected to conclude by May 2027. DBSVT will begin contacting clients about the transfer from August 31, 2026. DBS will continue to serve private wealth clients in Thailand with non-Thai baht portfolios, and DBSVT’s Equity Institutional Sales business will also remain operational.
The collaboration between DBS and ttb in Thailand is a significant move for the country's retail wealth management sector. By inviting DBSVT clients to transfer their Thai baht holdings to ttb wealth securities, DBS is streamlining its focus in the Thai market, concentrating on non-Thai baht private wealth and institutional sales. This allows ttb to expand its domestic retail client base, leveraging DBS's initial client pool. The partnership also hints at a potential second phase, where ttb customers could gain access to global investment products from DBS's regional platform. This suggests a broader strategy to integrate and offer more sophisticated financial solutions to Thai retail investors, potentially raising the bar for wealth management offerings across the market. The long timeline for the initial transfer, extending to May 2027, indicates the complexity of migrating client assets and securing necessary consents and regulatory approvals.
