ZEEKR Surpasses 800,000 Global Deliveries and Unveils Global Expansion Strategy for Dual Flagship 9-Series Models
ZEEKR, a premium electric vehicle brand, has announced its global expansion strategy for its 9-Series models, the ZEEKR 9X and ZEEKR 009 Grand, at the 2026 International Automotive and Supply Chain Expo in Hong Kong. This announcement follows a significant milestone for the company, having surpassed 800,000 global deliveries as of June 16, 2026. The brand has demonstrated strong market performance, particularly in Hong Kong, where it captured a 40.7% market share in the luxury vehicle segment from January to May 2026. ZEEKR also reported leading sales in luxury pure-electric segments across other key Asian markets like Thailand and Malaysia, and in Australia and Mexico. The 9-Series models, including the ultra-luxury ZEEKR 9X SUV and the ZEEKR 009 Grand MPV, showcase advanced technology and safety features, with pre-sales for the 9X already open in the Middle East and a planned launch for the right-hand-drive 009 Grand in Hong Kong in Q4 2026.
ZEEKR's aggressive global expansion, particularly within the luxury new energy vehicle (NEV) segment, highlights a significant trend in Asia's automotive industry. Chinese EV manufacturers are increasingly looking beyond their domestic market, leveraging technological advancements and competitive pricing to challenge established global brands. The choice of Hong Kong as a launchpad underscores its strategic importance as a gateway for Chinese companies aiming for international markets, reflecting its role as a financial and logistical hub in Asia. This move also signals a maturing of the NEV market, where luxury and performance are becoming key differentiators, moving beyond initial focus on basic electrification.
The strong performance of ZEEKR in various Asian markets, including Hong Kong, Thailand, and Malaysia, indicates a growing acceptance and demand for premium Chinese EV brands in the region. This success is not just about sales volume but also about market share in the luxury segment, suggesting a shift in consumer perception towards Chinese-made luxury vehicles. The emphasis on advanced safety features, high-performance powertrains, and opulent interiors in models like the ZEEKR 9X and 009 Grand demonstrates a strategic effort to compete directly with European and Japanese luxury carmakers, pushing the boundaries of what consumers expect from an NEV.
This expansion strategy is indicative of a broader trend where Asian tech and manufacturing prowess is increasingly translating into global market leadership in specific high-value sectors. For Asia's tech ecosystem, ZEEKR's growth signifies robust innovation in automotive technology, from battery systems to intelligent driving features, and the development of comprehensive global operational capabilities. It also points to increased competition and potential partnerships within the supply chain, as these companies scale their international presence and adapt to diverse market regulations and consumer preferences.
