Thailand’s First Virtual Bank Clicx Launches With 4% Savings Offer
Clicx, Thailand’s inaugural virtual bank, has officially launched, offering a promotional 4% savings rate for new customers. This offer applies to deposits up to 20,000 baht within a special Clicx Save Max 4% pocket for three months, with balances exceeding this amount earning 0.5% annually. Established through a collaboration between Krungthai Bank, Advanced Info Service, and PTT Oil and Retail Business, Clicx received its virtual banking license in May. The new digital bank aims to serve underserved customer segments while adhering to Bank of Thailand regulations, including digital identity verification and transaction monitoring for security.
The launch of Clicx marks a significant step in the digitalization of Thailand’s financial sector, aligning with a broader trend across Southeast Asia where virtual banks are emerging to challenge traditional banking models.
