KPMG Opens Singapore AI Centre as Firms Move from Pilots to Scale
KPMG has established a Trusted AI Centre of Excellence in Singapore, a new initiative supported by the Singapore Economic Development Board. This center aims to assist companies in bridging governance gaps as their AI adoption matures beyond initial pilot phases. It will concentrate on key areas including AI strategy, governance frameworks, workforce preparedness, data infrastructure, and regulatory compliance. Concurrently, KPMG has launched its Trusted AI Assurance offering, designed to independently assess an organization’s AI governance and the reliability of its AI systems, supporting wider, cross-border deployments. This move reflects a growing need for robust AI governance as businesses scale their AI initiatives.
KPMG’s launch of a Trusted AI Centre of Excellence in Singapore underscores a critical shift in Asia’s AI landscape: the transition from experimental pilots to scaled, production-ready AI deployments. This move highlights the increasing maturity of AI adoption across the region, where businesses are now grappling with complex issues of value, accountability, and regulatory compliance, particularly for cross-border operations. The emphasis on governance, workforce readiness, and regulatory preparedness signals a growing recognition that technical innovation alone is insufficient; robust frameworks are essential for sustainable and ethical AI integration.
This development is particularly significant for Asia’s diverse markets, where varying regulatory environments and cultural expectations necessitate adaptable AI governance solutions. By aligning with international standards like the EU AI Act and NIST, while also incorporating Singapore’s Model AI Governance Framework, KPMG is positioning itself to address the multifaceted challenges of AI assurance across different jurisdictions. This initiative will likely accelerate the adoption of responsible AI practices, fostering greater trust among businesses, regulators, and consumers, and ultimately driving more confident investment in AI technologies across sectors like financial services, healthcare, and manufacturing.
