WeChat Pay expands AI AgentPay Card to DeepSeek Harness and OpenClaw
WeChat Pay has expanded its AI AgentPay Card to support DeepSeek Harness and OpenClaw, integrating two new agent platforms into its payment ecosystem. This development allows AI agents on these platforms to recommend paid services, place orders, and initiate payments within the same conversation, provided the user authorizes the connection. The AI AgentPay Card currently facilitates payments for over 700 Pay Skills available on Tencent’s SkillHub. Funds for these transactions are kept separate from the user's primary WeChat Pay account, and each payment requires final confirmation on a phone for security.
Tencent’s WeChat Pay is making a calculated move to embed its payment infrastructure deeper into the emerging AI agent economy. By integrating with DeepSeek Harness and OpenClaw, WeChat Pay is positioning itself as a critical enabler for monetizing AI services in China. The ability for an AI agent to recommend and process payments for over 700 Pay Skills on Tencent’s SkillHub streamlines the user experience, potentially driving greater adoption of AI-powered services. The separation of funds from the main WeChat Pay account and the requirement for phone confirmation on each transaction reflect a cautious approach to security and user trust. This balance is crucial for widespread adoption, especially as AI agents gain more autonomy in handling financial transactions. The real test will be how quickly developers on DeepSeek Harness and OpenClaw can build compelling, monetizable services that leverage this new payment capability.
