Standard Chartered, Air India Partner on Wealth and Travel Benefits
Standard Chartered and Air India have formed a partnership to offer the airline’s frequent flyer status to affluent Global Indian clients of the bank in Singapore and the UAE. The collaboration also provides Air India customers meeting eligibility criteria with access to Standard Chartered’s wealth management services in these two markets.
The partnership primarily focuses on reciprocal benefits for each company's affluent client base. Standard Chartered's eligible clients will receive Maharaja Club Gold or Silver status. This status includes travel perks such as extra baggage allowance, priority check-in and boarding, airport lounge access, upgrade vouchers, and bonus Maharaja Points. Gold members further gain Star Alliance Gold status, which extends lounge access and priority benefits across 25 other Star Alliance member airlines, covering over 1,000 airport lounges worldwide.
For Air India customers, the arrangement opens a pathway to Standard Chartered’s international banking and wealth management services. Eligible clients will receive dedicated relationship management support and market outlook insights from the bank’s Chief Investment Office. They will also be invited to the bank’s thought leadership events and offered wealth solutions tailored to cross-border financial needs.
This initiative specifically targets "Global Indians," whose lives, businesses, and ambitions increasingly span international borders, as stated by Rajesh Kannan, Head of Wealth and Retail Banking, UAE & Jersey, and Head of Global Indian Clients at Standard Chartered. Singapore and the UAE are the initial launch markets, with the bank's Singapore wealth centre serving as a key point of access for these eligible clients. The partnership combines established brands to create a proposition for this specific demographic, aiming to expand the Maharaja Club internationally and offer immediate access to premium status and travel benefits.
