    内容仅提供英文版本

NTT Data has launched its Adaptis payment platform in India, expanding its presence in the country’s competitive digital payments market. This move follows the Japanese technology group’s acquisition of Malaysian payment processor GHL Systems and its existing Indian subsidiary, NTT Data Payment Services India. Adaptis, already operational in several Southeast Asian countries and Japan, aims to simplify payment intermediation for Indian retailers and e-commerce vendors by handling multiple payment options through a single platform. The company is targeting high-value transaction sectors like tuition payments and securities trading to differentiate itself amidst regulatory challenges and established domestic competitors. NTT Data projects its overseas electronic payment business to reach 150 billion yen (US$953 million) in annual revenue by fiscal 2030.

    Nexa 摘要

NTT Data’s expansion into the Indian payments market with Adaptis signifies a strategic push by a major Japanese tech player into one of Asia’s most dynamic digital economies. India’s payments landscape, characterized by the dominance of UPI and a mix of card payments, presents both immense opportunity and significant challenges. By integrating its existing Indian operations with Adaptis, NTT Data aims to leverage its scale and technology to capture a larger share of the market, particularly by simplifying payment processing for merchants who currently navigate multiple contracts.

This move also highlights a broader trend of regional consolidation and cross-border expansion in Asia’s fintech sector. NTT Data’s prior acquisition of GHL Systems and Atom Technologies underscores a strategy to build a comprehensive payments ecosystem across key Asian markets. The focus on high-value transactions like tuition and securities trading is a smart differentiation tactic, allowing NTT Data to avoid direct, fee-waived competition in the mass-market UPI space while still participating in India’s overall digital transformation. The company’s ambitious revenue targets for its overseas electronic payment business reflect the perceived growth potential in these markets, despite regulatory hurdles and intense local competition from players like Razorpay and PayU.
