Capital.com Secures MAS License Ahead of Singapore Launch in 2027
Capital.com has secured a Capital Markets Services license from the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) for its local entity, Capital Com Securities (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. This approval, covering securities and over-the-counter (OTC) derivatives, marks its first regulated entry into Southeast Asia. The trading platform plans to begin onboarding clients in Singapore in early 2027.
Capital.com's newly obtained Capital Markets Services (CMS) license from the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) permits its local entity to deal in capital markets products, including securities and over-the-counter (OTC) derivatives contracts. Securities are financial instruments like stocks typically traded on exchanges, while OTC derivatives are contracts whose value is derived from an underlying asset but traded directly between parties. This regulatory approval facilitates Capital.com's entry into Singapore as its first regulated market in Southeast Asia, with client onboarding anticipated in early 2027.
The platform is implementing specific measures to meet Singapore's regulatory and operational requirements ahead of its 2027 launch. These include identity verification via Singpass MyInfo, full client verification before trading, and mandatory two-factor authentication at sign-in. Valentina Rzheutskaya, Executive Director at Capital.com, noted that the MAS licensing process scrutinizes a firm's governance, controls, and capital, indicating that the license signifies adherence to Singapore's standards for financial service delivery.
Once operational, Capital.com intends to offer market insights, educational resources, charting tools, and risk-management features such as stop-loss orders. The platform will also provide in-app explanations of financial instruments and risk mechanisms to help users understand their trading decisions. Tony Lim, former CEO of IG Asia with over 30 years of experience in Singapore's capital markets, has been appointed CEO and Executive Director of Capital.com's Singapore entity, leading local teams in compliance, operations, client services, and marketing.
