Taiwanese computer manufacturer Acer is diversifying its business beyond personal computers, expanding into AI servers, smart medical systems, energy solutions, and home appliances. This strategy was announced as the company celebrated its 50th anniversary and the 10th year of its Acer Day campaign. Andrew Hou, president of Acer Pan-Asia Pacific, stated that the company's growth will focus on inter-process communication solutions, smart medical technologies, energy solutions, and Acerpure-branded home appliances. Acer also plans to develop its AI server market under the Altos brand while continuing to invest in its core PC operations. The company reported $2 billion in revenue across the Pan-Asia Pacific region in the first half of 2026, marking a 17% increase year-over-year.

Acer's move into AI servers and smart medical systems reflects a broader trend among established hardware manufacturers in Asia to seek new revenue streams beyond traditional PC markets. While Acer has maintained a strong PC market share in the Philippines at 25% overall and 41% in July 2026 for notebooks, the company's 17% revenue growth in Pan-Asia Pacific for H1 2026, driven by India (48%) and Korea (41%), suggests that diversification is already contributing to regional performance. The expansion into enterprise electronics and AI servers under the Altos brand is a critical development. It positions Acer to capitalize on the growing demand for AI infrastructure in Asia, moving up the value chain from consumer devices. The challenge will be competing with established players in these specialized segments, but Acer's existing enterprise relationships, which account for 46% of its regional business, provide a foundation for this shift.
